ANKARA

Ankara was a small Anatolian town at the beginning of the 20th century. Following the liberation struggle of the Turkish nation, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk declared Ankara the capital of the Republic.

The city, which has been growing and modernized every day with the proclamation of the capital, is today home to about 4.5 million people.

Republic of Turkey’s all important government buildings are located in this city.

The mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (the founder of the Republic) is on a hill overlooking Ankara.

One of the most important places to visit in Ankara is the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. In this museum you can follow the traces of all the civilizations that have lived in Anatolia for thousands of years.
